We’re Jess and Anna and we’re delighted to have you visit Big Sky Windmills!
Our journey began in 2016 when we purchased a small rural property near Prescott, Arizona, to graze cattle. Although the land lacked electric service, it boasted a stunning hilltop view where we drilled a 240-foot well. With no pre-made options available, we crafted our own wooden tower and installed a 12-foot windmill. That windmill still stands proudly today, drawing water from 200 feet below.
This experience sparked our deep passion for windmills.
In 2019, after relocating to Montana, we designed and built a timber-framed home and knew a windmill was essential to complete our ranch. We collaborated with Kevin at Rock Ridge Windmills to acquire a windmill and constructed our own wooden tower. With his encouragement, we began offering our wooden windmill towers to others. It is our passion to help our customers realize their dream of adding a beautiful, unique windmill to their ranch.
Jess, a mechanical engineer, is committed to the principle that things should be designed and built to endure a lifetime. This philosophy is evident in our tower and foundation designs.
Anna brings a keen eye for design, expertly integrating various elements into a cohesive master plan, whether it’s a home interior or a complex landscaping project.

If you require fully engineered plans and supporting calculations, we are ready to collaborate with your design team. We offer 3-D modeling of your wooden windmill tower and can assist with foundation design for all 50 states. Additionally, we provide earthquake modeling and design approval for windmill projects in California.
